clip_image002When it comes to change, we want an easy formula; a 1-2-3, A-B-C type procedure that results in life transformation. But meaningful change is never that easy. There is no step-by-step process, because it’s not an overnight deal. Change requires much more. And there are some barriers in our way that we must face and ultimately overcome. This message reveals some of those obstacles of change. And shows us that if we truly want to change; if we really want to overcome the barriers, we must be willing to change more than our behaviors. Because true change begins with our thinking, not just our behavior.

Hello Believers. Throughout our change series we’re going to have a theme song. This is powerful song that our church will be able to declare together every week. Jon Egan of the Desperation Band wrote this song based on Revelation 12:11. Below is a link for you to listen to the song and get familiar with it. Join us as we declare that we will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Join us for a special “Inside Out” Ladies Night Out with guest speaker Lisa Oliver!

This Thursday, 01-08-09, the Chili dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., at Believers Church, 7059 Harville Road.

On December 10, 2002 Lisa Oliver’s 10 year old son Clay was killed in an auto accident. Less than 3 ½ years later on April 21, 2006 Lisa’s husband Paul was killed in an auto accident and suddenly Lisa found herself in a dark cocoon of grief.

But, just as the caterpillar hatches for its cocoon with new wings, now color, and new freedom, Lisa emerged from her sorrow a renewed believer. Her painful incubation stretched her faith, deepened her trust, and strengthened her confidence in God. As she awoke to a more intimate relationship with Him, she flew into freedom on Wings of Hope (Title of her Book)…the hope of comfort, peace, and eternal life give only by God. Come and hear Lisa’s story of her spiritual metamorphosis from bondage to freedom. Fly with Lisa on Wings of Hope!

Books will also be available for purchase Thursday Night.

Also you can see pictures of Lisa’s family on Lori Grice’s blog August 5th, 2008,and November 6th, 2008 at www.lorigrice.com

Happy New Year! Are you ready for CHANGE in 2009? ireallywant2change.com

Everyone has something in their life that they would like to change. When it comes to change, we have an easy time identifying and wanting it. But making it happen is something else entirely. Simply put, we can’t change. Not on our own at least. We need help, direction and hope if we’re going to really make change in our lives. This message directs us to the true source and catalyst of change. And we see that by tapping into that source, we can develop the ability to begin making change that will last.

CHANGE BRGINS at Believers this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. I hope to see you here!

We all have things in our lives that need to change. ireallywant2change.com. But, I can’t change. The true beginning of change occurs when we admit, “I can’t change.”

What We Cover, God Uncovers.

Proverbs 28:13a (NIV) “He who conceals his sins does not prosper,”

Cover Up Game Rules

1. Blame others.

2. Get as many sinful sympathizers as you can.

3. Lie. We lie to God. Then, we lie to others.

What We Uncover, God Covers

Proverbs 28:13b (NIV)“…but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

The key to change is inviting the change agent into our lives. It’s uncovering our junk. It’s confessing our sin. It’s agreeing with God about our condition.

1 John 1:6-10 (NIV)

6 “If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by

the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the

blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place

in our lives.”

Psalm 32:3-5 (NIV)

3 “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD’ and You forgave the guilt of my sin.”

Romans 12:2 (NIV)

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing

of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing

and perfect will.”

2 Samuel 12

Galatians 5:25 (NASB)

“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”
